Title: DSO4202C Resets with software version 3.50.0(190325.0)

In Average/128/40k mode

I have a DSO4202c with software version 3.50.0(190325.0).

If I put it in Average mode, 128 average, memory depth 40k, it will reset after a few minutes.  All the settings are lost, and it returns to operating with default settings.

I was trying this combination because when I look at a 21 MHz sinewave, it looks "jittery".  I don't see this jittery distortion when I look at the same sinewave with other oscilloscopes.

Other settings
     sec/div: 40.0 ns
     Type: Real Time
     volts/div: 5.00V
     input: on Ch.1

While switching between CH1 & CH2

While switching between CH1 & CH2 to set up the scope, it will reset.

Procedure (after a reset has occurred):
    Set SEC/DIV to 20.0ns
Press the CH2 button to turn on CH2
    Set CH1 VOLT/DIV to 5.0, then CH2 to 5.0 with the knobs
Press the CH1 button to switch to the CH1 setup menu
Press the CH1 button to turn OFF CH1 (this is the first time)
Press the CH1 button again to turn CH1 ON (this is the first time)
Press the CH1 button again to turn OFF CH1 (this is the second time)
Press the CH1 button again to turn CH1 ON (this is the second time)
    The scope will reset.

I installed the latest software (20190613) and it still resets when I follow the steps I listed in my first note (switching between CH1 & CH2 to set up the scope).

I also discovered that I can not revert back to the firmware that came with the scope.  I get an error that the firmware I am trying to "update" to is older than the existing firmware.

It's crazy but the latest FW is not available the in the product's page, there are newer version scattered through the forum's messages.

Here is the latest that I have from 14/08/19: https://fil.email/zafhGGnH

Thanks for trying to help, but I have the DSO4202C.  The firmware you have is the DSO4102C.

It's exactly the same firmware. Just the file name is different but you can use it with no problems.

By the way, it is possible to restore the scope to the factory defaults, including the older firmware if needed.

When I tried to do that, I get an error saying that the "update failed" because the existing firmware is newer than the firmware I was trying to update it with.

Yes I know, you can't directly install an older FW on top of a new one. What I meant is that you have to first restore the oscilloscope to its factory default, that will probably bring back an older version of the FW so then you can install the other version that you want (if it's newer).

Try this, turn off the oscilloscope. Press the button to turn it on, wait 1 or 2 seconds and turn it off again. Now turn it on one more time and wait for the boot, you should see on the display a menu, select the F2 option to restore the system and confirm. Wait the process to be completed it takes a while. DO NOT interrupt the restoration in the middle of the process.

But why do want to install an older FW? Have you tried the version I've posted above? It's holiday in China this hole week, so don't expect any reply from them soon, but if you can wait a bit they'll fix any issue reported to them.

I'll try the new firmware first.  If it doesn't work, I'll try resetting the firmware back to the original using the method you describe.
