I noticed the same behaviour after I updated to FPGA v07 but then I noticed that the way it works now agrees with the description in the quick start guide under "Power"
When connect the power adapter to the oscilloscope, if the battery is not installed inside the
oscilloscope, the power key backlight is red and flash; if the battery is installed inside the
oscilloscope and the battery power is not filled, the power key backlight is red; if the battery is
installed inside the oscilloscope and the battery power is full, the backlight of the source key is
extinguishes.
Presumably the designer's intent here is that the LCD display is an adequate indication to the user that the device is powered up, and turning off the button illumination when not charging will slightly reduce the battery discharge rate.
