Yes, unfortunately this is the normal behaviour of the software. It's pretty much useless, full of bugs and apparently hantek has no interest in fixing it nor release information (like the communication protocol) that could help others try to develop an opensource alternative.
When came to software development and support, hantek leaves a lot to be desired. They standard is: if it already barely shows a line on the screen, consider it done and move on to release the next new half-finished product.
It's a shame, the hardware at least had a lot of potencial...
