4 days old. blinking LED.Beeps a few times when connecting USD. no comms with software. tried reinstalling driver.

Try a different computer USB port.  If still no-go, use BOTH the RED and Black USB plugs on the Y-Cable since some computer limit the current on each USB port to 250mA and suing both USB connectors will provide up to 500mA of power.
